Joanne Peters Denny is leaving her role as UNC's Director of Media Relations, she announced Thursday.

"I am extremely grateful to have had this opportunity to have served my alma matter," she said in the email to members of the media.

Peters Denny held her role at the University for five years, and Thursday was her last day in the role.

"While these are certainly challenging times in the world, and for communications professionals and journalists alike, I am appreciative of the professionalism and collegiality of the journalists I have had the fortune of working with both here in North Carolina and on the national higher education beat," Peters Denny said.

Peters Denny's announcement comes about two weeks after Vice Chancellor of Communications Joel Curran announced his departure from UNC for a role at the University of Notre Dame. Curran's last day at the University will be Oct. 8.
