Junior wide receiver Emery Simmons has entered the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on Instagram Tuesday.
“To every teammate, fan, and Tarheel community thank you for allowing a high school kid (to) come and mature to a young adult in the last 2 and a half years,” Simmons wrote in the post. “It has truly been an experience that I will never forget.”
Simmons came to Chapel Hill as a three-star recruit from South View High School in Hope Mills. After playing sparingly in his first two seasons, he racked up 243 yards and a touchdown in five games this year, including 110 yards against Georgia Tech in late September.
Simmons becomes the second receiver in as many weeks to enter the portal. He joins sophomore Khafre Brown, who announced he would enter the NCAA transfer portal Oct. 18.
