The Chapel Hill Police Department has released the name of the homicide victim.
The victim was identified as Michael Deshai Lee, a 51-year-old resident of Chapel Hill. The CHPD also said the three injured victims are expected to survive.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Update Sept. 27; 10:42 p.m.:
Chapel Hill Police has confirmed that one person died at the scene. Two other individuals were victims of gunshot wounds and were transported to UNC Hospitals. Another person suffered additional injuries.
The shooting is being investigated as a homicide. The CHPD does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the local community at this time.
At 6:18 p.m. on Tuesday, the Chapel Hill Police Department responded to a report of multiple gunshots at 800 Pritchard Ave. Ext., according to a press release from the Town.
The Chapel Hill Fire Department and Orange County Emergency Services assisted multiple victims at the scene. The conditions of these individuals is unknown at this time.
The Police Department is investigating the situation and will release more information as it is available.
On Aug. 28, a 19-year-old was found at the same location with multiple gunshot wounds. They were transported to UNC Hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.
