Michael Parker announced that he will not be seeking a third term on Chapel Hill Town Council in a press release this morning.
Parker has served on the council for seven-and-a-half years. He said in the press release that his decision not to run was one that took a lot of deliberation.
"Over the course of my time on council, my colleagues and I have done important work in planning, transit, economic development, climate action and affordable housing during my tenure on Council," he said in the press release.
He said that he is excited for the next generation of leaders in Chapel Hill and that the town has a "bright and exciting future."
"My term has about five months left in it, and I am going to work every day of it to do whatever I can make Chapel Hill better, more prosperous, more equitable and more inclusive," he said.
