Voters enter the Chapel of the Cross on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024.

Early voting in North Carolina ends at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. Voters can visit early voting sites anywhere in the county they are registered to vote in during the early voting period.

Orange County has six early voting sites: the Chapel Hill Public Library, Chapel of the Cross, Efland-Cheeks Community Center, Orange Works at Hillsborough Commons, the Seymour Center and the Carrboro Town Hall Complex.

Of Orange County's 113,722 registered voters, 58,196 cast early votes as of Oct. 30. In the 2020 general election, Orange County had 50,562 votes during the entire early voting period.

Over three million voters in North Carolina cast their ballots early as of Oct. 29, making up over 40 percent of registered voters in the state.

North Carolina offers same-day registration at all early voting sites during the early voting period. To complete same-day registration, voters must provide proof of residency in the county they are voting in and must vote early.

Voters can check their registration status online through North Carolina State Board of Election's Voter Search tool.

Voters must present a physical photo identification card to vote early, such as a valid North Carolina driver's license, U.S. passport or physical UNC OneCard.

UNC students and faculty can obtain free physical OneCards at the OneCard office on the third floor of the Student Stores.

Orange County offers an Early Voting Wait Time Tracker for voters to anticipate how long it will take to cast their ballots and make decisions about which early voting site to visit.
