UNC junior pitcher Kenna Raye Dark (22) prepares to pitch during the softball game against Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at Anderson Stadium. UNC won 5-0.

The North Carolina softball team (11-3) handled the Wagner Seahawks (0-3), 11-0, in the first game of their Sunday double-header at Anderson Softball Stadium.

North Carolina sophomore pitcher Nikki Harris threw a no hitter for UNC and was backed by a powerful offensive performance.

The Tar Heels started hot. Graduate second basemen Kat Rodriguez reached first on a single. Sophomore outfielder Sanaa Thompson followed with a single of her own and senior Carlie Myrtle walked to load the bases for North Carolina.

Graduate outfielder Kiannah Pierce entered the batter's box with two outs and three on for the Tar Heels.

Pierce fought at the plate and found herself with a full count. She connected with the sixth pitch to blast a double up the middle and bring in three runs for the Tar Heels.

Sophomore catcher Rayna Blackwell followed suit with a double of her own to bring in Pierce. The Tar Heels got four on the board in the first.

Harris worked on the mound to hold the Seahawks through the third.

The Tar Heels continued their hot hitting in the third.

Blackwell entered the batter's box with the bases loaded for the Tar Heels and singled to right field to bring in a run.

Graduate infielder Shelby Barbee reached first on a fielder's choice and brought in two more runs for North Carolina.

The Tar Heels entered the fourth up seven runs.

Harris recorded her third strikeout of the game to extend the hitting drought for the Seahawks through the fourth.

North Carolina picked up where they left off in the bottom of the fourth. Senior outfielder Alex Coleman scored on four walks for the Tar Heels.

For the second time of the game, Pierce found herself at bat with the bases loaded and again hit a double up the middle to bring in three more runners for North Carolina.

The Tar Heels charted four more runs in the fourth inning to go up 11. They held the Seahawks again in the top of the fifth to enact the mercy rule.

North Carolina will host Queens in their second game of the day, Sunday night at 6 p.m.
