UNC sophomore guard Elliot Cadeau (3) dribbles the ball against Miami at the Dean E. Smith Center on Mar. 1, 2025. The Tar Heels won 92-73.

Starting point guard Elliot Cadeau entered the transfer portal on Tuesday after two seasons with UNC men's basketball, according to Inside Carolina. The sophomore guard averaged 9.4 points, 6.2 assists and 27.8 minutes per game in the 2024-25 season.

The former five-star prospect out of West Orange, New Jersey was the No. 2 point guard in the class of 2023. Cadeau reclassified in order to join the Tar Heels for the 2023-24 season, where he averaged 7.3 points and 4.1 assists per game. His 150 assists last season were the most by any North Carolina player since senior Theo Pinson in 2018 and by a first-year since Marcus Paige in 2013.

Across his two seasons at UNC, Cadeau started in 68 out of 74 games, taking on the role as play caller for North Carolina on the floor.

Cadeau shot 44.5 percent from the field this season, but struggled with turnovers — averaging 3.1 per game — and from the 3-point line, only connecting on 33.7 percent of shots.

The Tar Heels will now look to fill his shoes at the point this offseason.
