Former Arizona forward Henri Veesaar committed to UNC on Friday afternoon, per Inside Carolina.
He is the highest-rated transfer for UNC in the portal era.
The 7-footer took an official visit to Chapel Hill earlier this week before deciding to spend his junior season at North Carolina. During his redshirt sophomore season with the Wildcats, Veesaar averaged 9.4 points, five rebounds and 1.1 blocks while averaging 20.8 minutes per game.
Veesaar earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors during a breakout season with Arizona. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the No. 2 center and No. 19 overall player in the portal. He also comes at a much-needed time for UNC.
During the 2024-25 season, the Tar Heels struggled to find a replacement for former UNC center Armando Bacot, who broke both the program's rebounding and double-double record. Veesaar's commitment to North Carolina seems to be a step in the right direction for a program lacking height and post presence. UNC ranked No. 305 out of 364 teams in average height last year.
He joins West Virginia's Jonathan Powell as the only players to commit to UNC out of the transfer portal so far.
