Head Coach Hubert Davis signals at his team during the men’s basketball game against N.C. State at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025. UNC won 63-61.

Former Colorado State sophomore guard Kyan Evans committed to the UNC men's basketball program on Wednesday night, he announced on Instagram.

During his sophomore season with the Rams, Evans shot 47.1 percent from the field and hit on 44.6 percent of his three point attempts while averaging 28.2 minutes per game. On the season, he averaged 10.6 points, 2.9 boards and 3.1 assists. He also earned Honorable Mention All-Mountain West honors.

Evans scored 23 points against Memphis in the second round of the NCAA tournament, going 7-for-11 and 6-for-9 from three.

He is the third commit from the transfer portal for head coach Hubert Davis, joining Henri Veesar and Jonathan Powell. Evans fills a void at the guard position for the Tar Heels after the departures of graduating fifth-year RJ Davis and both Elliot Cadeau and Ian Jackson, who entered the transfer portal.

North Carolina now has three scholarship spots remaining for the 2025-26 season.
