Rise Biscuits & Donuts, a popular biscuit and doughnut shop in the Triangle, opened its doors to customers in its newest Carrboro location at 310 E. Main St. Wednesday.
“It’s a dynamite location with terrific visibility and tremendous parking,” said Rick Robinson, a co-owner of the Carrboro store.
Robinson said he has had his eye on opening something in this area for quite some time.
The franchise, founded by Tom Ferguson, originated in Durham in 2012.
This store is one of the many locations that has come with the expansion of the franchise.
Rise plans to open three other new locations in the upcoming months — another two locations within the Triangle and one in Charlotte.
Rise was with the franchise development firm, Fransmart, after the early success of the original location in Durham.
Fransmart is the firm that made restaurants like Five Guys and Qdoba nationally recognized chains.
It is unusual to franchise off of one store, said Robinson.
“Were local and everything is handmade," Robinson said. "We don't hold our biscuits longer than 30 minutes after they've been baked."
The layout of the store is very interactive and patrons will be able to watch the baking process.
Rise is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Rise places an emphasis on the quality of its employees, said Robinson.
“In the restaurant business, those hours are hard to come by," he said.
