Samuel Beckett’s “Endgame”

Tickets are $10 to $39

Carolina Performing Arts hosts the Gate Theatre of Dublin’s adaptation of “Endgame,” written by absurdist Irish writer Samuel Beckett. The performance is paired with the same theatre’s performance of Beckett’s autobiographical novel “Watt.” Tickets are going quickly.

Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company
Great Hall

The Carolina Union Activities Board’s comedy committee brings it’s first big event of the year. From New York City, the Upright Citizens Brigade touring company is bringing it’s improvisational humor to the Great Hall. From a comedy club that raised the likes of Saturday Night Live greats Amy Poehler and Horatio Sanz, expect nothing but the heartiest laughs.

LAB! Hours with Dublin’s Gate Theatre
Center for Dramatic Art, room 104

Admission is free and open to all students

The Gate Theatre of Dublin — this weekend performing Samuel Beckett’s “Watt” and “Endgame” at Historic Playmakers Theatre — is visiting the LAB! Hours workshop for a question and answer session. They’ll talk about what it’s like to work in the company and present a new performing arts study abroad opportunity in Ireland.

NC Songwriters Co-op 2011 Song Contest
The Carrboro ArtsCenter
7:30 pm
Tickets are $10 for the general public and $8 for ArtsCenter members

Come to the ArtsCenter to see local singers and songwriters perform their work. They’re competing for a $3,000 cash prize, sponsored by the North Carolina Songwriters Co-op, which supports and promotes North Carolina songwriters.

*Collecting (Our Thoughts)

Admission is free.

A forum about the lesser known aspects of collecting, featuring Ackland’s head curator Peter Nisbet, Robert Hobbs, Jeff Whetstone and Claire Schneider.

How I Learned To Drive

Admission is free.

LAB! Theatre performs this Pulitzer-prize winning play about a girl who is molested by and falls in love with her uncle, and loves to drive.

Though at Canvas, we usually keep movie times out of our Roundup (because, really, there are just too many of them), this classic flick couldn’t not be included. Take a break from studying, go back to the 1942 and experience the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Wednesday

The Parchman Hour
Paul Green Theatre
7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 to $45

Official opening night of the world premiere of “The Parchman Hour” at PlayMakers Repertory Company. Written and directed by Mike Wiley, the play is set during the American civil rights movement and features the songs and stories of the 1961 Freedom Riders.
