Impressionist artist and UNC alumnus Vieni Pawloski will show her work at the upcoming exhibit at the Horace Williams House.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill.
“It’s the pinnacle of my success,” Pawloski said.
The artist — who hails from the Outer Banks — wanted to work with the iconic places of Chapel Hill, like the Old Well, Gimghoul Castle and the Bell Tower.
Ernest Dollar, director of the Preservation Society, said the society’s art program is progressive.
“We didn’t want some concept that is traditional,” he said.
“It needed to be well ahead of its time.”
Nerys Levy, co-chairwoman of the society’s art committee, said Pawloski’s work was chosen for its regional significance.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of major artists showing the work and the Horace Williams House and the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill wants to promote and celebrate preservation of this historic community.
Attend the opening reception on Sunday, March 4, at 2 p.m. Admission is free. The exhibition will remain on display through March 25.
