Dive Recommends: April 5-April 11

Saturday, April 6

On An On
Local 506, Chapel Hill
Doors: 8:30 pm / Show: 9:00 pm, $8-$10

On An On’s hazy indie pop recalls Local Natives’ rhythmic percussion coupled with the dense textures of Memoryhouse. The band released its fabulous debut full-length Give In earlier this year and was recently voted the number one new band to see at this year’s South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. Savoir Adore and Baobab will open.

Sunday, April 7

Caveman/Pure Bathing Culture
Local 506, Chapel Hill
Doors: 8:30 pm / Show: 9:00 pm, $10-$12

Touring in support of its latest self-titled release, Caveman brings infectious pop-rock with a synth twist. Portland’s Pure Bathing Culture pack catchy melodies into reverb-soaked guitar pop, referencing the ‘60s girl-group aesthetic. This well-matched double bill provides the rare opportunity to catch two indie bands on the rise.

Thursday, April 11

William Tyler
The Pinhook, Durham
Doors: 8:30 pm / Show: 9:00 pm, $8-$10

William Tyler is one hell of a guitar player, as the frighteningly long nails on his plucking hand will testify. His country-tinged, instrumental pieces weave intricate soundscapes, ranging from lamenting ballads to upbeat jaunts, all with the use of only six strings. New local group Loamlands open.
