Happy almost-Halloween, guys! I feel like I can finally properly anticipate, so I'm about a month behind everyone else (except for my roommate, who has had spooky wall stickers up in our dorm room since the BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER). I'm late to the game for a number of reasons — my midterms aren't done yet, I really and truly despise being scared and my procrastination levels re: finding a costume are beginning to rival the herculean effort I put into not doing my astronomy labs before they're due.
But I'm beginning to think that even my last-minute enthusiasm for the holiday might be unwarranted. The 10:30 Franklin Street curfew feels a little bit extra to me since I literally cannot remember the last time I went to bed that early. Fortunately for me and every other night owl out there, Homegrown Halloween is followed by several afterparty options! So if you'd like to go on a Where's Waldo-style hunt for this particular social media manager, I'd recommend checking Linda's Halloween Bash around 1 a.m., since that's what I'd be doing even if it weren't a holiday.

QUICK HITS
- The campus Latinx community just wants to talk. They've outgrown their current space in Craige North and are seeking University support to find a new home.
- Carolina Conversations took on sexual assault during Wednesday's event in the Union. Students and University officials alike discussed assault and prevention in groups throughout the evening.
- The UNC School of Medicine still allows students to use live animals in emergency medical training. Here's a look at the group of law students trying to change that.
- UNC and Harvard University are partnering to study PTSD and traumatic brain injury. While the study should have an impact on veterans, the research is mostly focusing on civilians and gender differences.
IN BALLER MOVES
UNC men's basketball was represented at Wednesday's ACC Operation Basketball. Joel Berry, Isaiah Hicks and campus grandpa Roy Williams fielded questions from the press, covering topics ranging from finding a replacement for injured guard Theo Pinson, last year's championship loss to Villanova and competition at N.C. State and Duke. All of these things sound like topics I want to avoid, so if you could email me back a positive recap of the article that would be great.
IN DEAN DISCUSSIONS
Former DNC chairperson and Vermont Governor Howard Dean came to Chapel Hill Wednesday to campaign for Hillary Clinton. We sat down with him to talk Bernie, third party votes and his infamous "Dean Scream." In case you're not aware of the Dean Scream, please look it up immediately — there's an audio clip of it on Dean's Wikipedia page and it is an absolute delight.
IN BATHROOM BALLOTS
Conservatives and liberals alike are encouraging like-minded citizens to not flush their vote down the toilet. North Carolina's purple status and controversial social issues have made the state an area of national interest for pundits, pollsters and politicians. Equality NC and the Human Rights campaign have partnered in an attempt to get LGBTQ people to the polls, which they say is pivotal to this year's election. On the other side of the spectrum, conservative religious organization Return America is encouraging congregations to vote for their values.
