After 110 hard-fought minutes against No. 2 Stanford, the North Carolina women’s soccer team ended its first home game of the season in a 2-2 tie.
UNC’s Alyssa Rich had the first shot on goal in the second minute, but after the wide left attempt the Cardinal took control for the remainder of the half.
Stanford’s Christen Press had a shot and a goal before intermission, fueling Stanford’s 1-0 halftime lead.
The No. 1 Tar Heels rebounded from two second-half Cardinal leads with goals from freshman Kealia Ohai and sophomore Amanda Brooks to tie the game 2-2 after regulation. The score remained the same after two ten-minute overtime periods.
In addition to her goal, Ohai had three shots and an assist against Stanford.
