Aircraft game not final yet

The aircraft game hasn’t taken flight yet, but the plans are on the runway.

A historic basketball game on an aircraft carrier between North Carolina and Michigan State has been rumored to take place next season. On his radio show Monday night, Roy Williams said the game will take place in San Diego, Calif., on Nov. 11, 2011.

Michigan State team spokesman Matt Larson and UNC spokesman Steve Kirschner both said no official announcement has been made. Kirschner said the contract has not been worked out.

“We hope that it happens and we think that it will happen, but there’s nothing official yet.” Kirschner said.

UNC defeated Michigan State 89-72 in the 2009 NCAA National Championship.
