After trailing 1-0 at halftime, the North Carolina men’s soccer team fought back to win their second round NCAA tournament match up with Coastal Carolina 3-2.
In a span of two minutes and three seconds the two teams combined for three goals that took the breath from both benches and every fan in the bleachers.
The Tar Heels struck first when Ben Speas beat the keeper to the left as he slide to make a play. But the score was only level momentarily.
TeeJay East came down and scored on a play similar to that of Speas beating Goodwin to the far post. Captain Kirk Urso nettednthe goal of the day 39 seconds later to tie the score again at two. Urso struck one from just inside 30 yards off a corner kick. The shot curled into the upper left corner.
Enzo Martinez scored the game winner on a free kick from just outside the box in the 69th minute. The free kick was the result of a handball. Martinez’s shot was a rocket to the far post.
UNC will play Indiana next Sunday at 1 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
