The North Carolina men’s basketball team defeated Mississippi Valley State in a 101-75 rout Sunday at the Smith Center.
The Tar Heels were led by their frontcourt, which totaled 52 points in the game. Both Tyler Zeller and John Henson had double doubles, while Henson and Harrison Barnes paced the team with 18 points each.
After accruing 14 team fouls in the first half, The Delta Devils went on to tally 12 more in the second half. But the Tar Heels struggled from the line early, going eight for 19 in the first half.
The Tar Heels also didn’t have much success from behind the arc, shooting five for 19, but the team’s strong inside play was able to overcome that, as the team tallied 62 rebounds on the day.
