Welcome to another edition of Tracking the Tar Heels. Let’s take a look at what the Tar Heels have been up to:
- Even though a spread offense puts more emphasis on passing, UNC running back Giovani Bernard has embraced coach Larry Fedora’s system.
- Robert Mercer, the director of UNC’s Academic Support Program for Student Athletes, has been moved to a new position outside of athletic advising.
- Former UNC basketball coach Matt Doherty took to Twitter and defended Julius Peppers. He also took some time to poke fun at N.C. State fans.
- The UNC women’s soccer team got off to rocky start this season with a 1-0 loss to Portland, but the Tar Heels are ready to put that behind them, Jonathan LaMantia writes.
- Lastly, I caught up with a few Tar Heel baseball players who participated in summer leagues. The experience was especially worthwhile for reliever Trevor Kelley, who became a dominant arm in the bullpen and had the chance to work with a Baltimore Orioles pitcher.
