Women’s soccer vs. Virginia Tech

Welcome to another edition of Tracking the Tar Heels.

Let’s see what the Tar Heels have been up to:

  • Despite being ranked 10 spots lower in the polls, the North Carolina women’s soccer team took down No. 8 Virginia Tech on Thursday night, Assistant Sports Editor Brooke Pryor writes.
  • David Adler writes that the Tar Heels were led by a strong offense.
  • Sports Editor Brandon Moree explores how the addition of Notre Dame may shake up the ACC, especially when it comes to scheduling and travel expenses.
  • One day after undergoing a 3.5 hour surgical procedure to remove a tumor from his kidney, basketball coach Roy Williams was released from the hospital Thursday.
  • Though she plays field hockey at UNC, Loren Shealy will also be” taking classes at Duke”:http://www.dailytarheel.com/article/2012/09/505be8d577818 as part of the Roberston Scholars Program, Pryor writes.
  • Lastly, I caught up with UNC wide receiver Quinshad Davis at practice this week, and he’s been receiving a lot of passes — along with praise.
