Welcome to another edition of Tracking the Tar Heels.

Here’s a look at what the Tar Heels have been up to:

  • UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp said that academic standards will rise for student athletes in an interview with the (Raleigh) News & Observer. Thorp said the impending changes will make “national news” when they are announced in the spring.
  • Despite lacking consistency, the UNC volleyball team defeated Clemson 3-1 on Wednesday night, Emily Fedewa writes.
  • According to Assistant Sports Editor Henry Gargan, the uncharacteristic number of errors made the volleyball team’s win against Clemson harder.
  • Superior Court Judge Howard E. Manning Jr. has given UNC 30 days to release documents it sent to the NCAA regarding improper benefits in the football program.
  • The defense of the UNC football team is still a work in progress, Andrew Carter of the (Raleigh) News & Observer writes.
  • After suffering a head injury in his first at-bat in the major leagues, former Tar Heel baseball player Adam Greenberg will get his second chance at the plate more than seven years later next Tuesday as a member of the Miami Marlins.
