Welcome to another edition of Tracking the Tar Heels.

Here’s what the Tar Heels have been up to:

  • Despite underwhelming attendance at Kenan Stadium in the season opener, North Carolina football coach Larry Fedora is dreaming of big home crowds in the future. Fedora said eventually he hopes people will have to “beg, borrow and steal” to get a ticket.
  • North Carolina got Wake Forest’s attention with its 62-0 win against Elon. The Tar Heels will head to Winston-Salem on Saturday.
  • With Robert Woodard leaving to serve as pitching coach at UNC-Wilmington, UNC baseball coach Mike Fox tabbed former Tar Heel pitcher Bryant Gaines as his new assistant coach, Sports Editor Brandon Moree writes.
  • Assistant Sports Editors Robbie Harms and Brooke Pryor explore how UNC women’s soccer players Kealia Ohai, Crystal Dunn and Bryane Heaberlin balance schoolwork with playing abroad.
