Welcome to another edition of Tracking the Tar Heels.

Let’s see what the Tar Heels have been up to:

  • The North Carolina football team earned its most lopsided win in school history Saturday, taking down Idaho 66-0. In the process, the Tar Heels flashed a faster offensive tempo.
  • The Tar Heels won big but learned little, writes Caulton Tudor of the (Raleigh) News & Observer.
  • UNC has now turned its attention to Virginia Tech, Harold Gutmann of the Durham Herald-Sun writes.
  • Dan Kane and J. Andrew Curliss of the (Raleigh) News & Observer looked further into UNC’s academic records in this piece.
  • North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams said he feels blessed to be on the mend from the surgery on his kidney, ESPN’s Robbi Pickeral writes.
  • The UNC men’s soccer team handled its emotions — and the Blue Devils — in Friday night’s overtime win, Sports Editor Brandon Moree writes.
  • The women’s soccer team bounced back from a loss to Florida State and stomped the Hurricanes on Sunday. The Miami defense broke down after an early goal from Kealia Ohai, David Adler writes.
  • The UNC field hockey team dominated Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday, Assistant Sports Editor Henry Gargan writes, and that came after the Tar Heels rained on Wake Forest’s parade, writes Andrew Romaine.
  • The volleyball team leaned on its veterans for a conference win against Georgia Tech on Sunday, Grace Raynor writes.
  • The cross country team had a strong showing at the Notre Dame Invitational despite dealing with injuries, Assistant Sports Editor Robbie Harms writes.
