North Carolina has a two goal lead against Old Dominion at halftime.
The Tar Heels only lead by one goal until the 34th minute when senior Caitlin Van Sickle lifted a ball in from in front of the cage following Charlotte Craddock’s blocked shot. The play developed from the Tar Heels’ first corner of the game, drawn in the 34th minute. The goal was Van Sickle’s fifth of the season. She was recently named ACC defensive player of the year for the third consecutive season.
The first goal was scored by Tar Heel leading scorer Charlotte Craddock in the sixth minute. She deflected the ball into the goal off a pass from ACC freshman of the year, Emily Wold.
North Carolina leads ODU in shots 6-3 while ODU has the advantage in penalty corners 3-1.
The winner of this game will advance to Norfolk, Va. for the semifinals of the NCAA tournament, hosted by Old Dominion.
