Welcome to a another edition of Tracking the Tar Heels.
Here’s what the Tar Heels have been up to:
- Tennis isn’t only love for UNC sophomore Caroline Price, Assistant Sports Editor Henry Gargan writes.
- A strong second half lifted the UNC women’s basketball team to a 90-52 exhibition victory against Division II Wingate on Thursday, Jonathan LaMantia writes.
- Assistant Sports Editor Robbie Harms writes that UNC blew out Wingate led by an assertive second half defensive presence on the strength of eight blocks.
- The No. 3 UNC men’s soccer team clinched a share of the ACC regular season title with its 4-0 victory against Boston College on senior night, Matthew Cox writes.
- Sticking to the soccer field, senior goalkeeper Scott Goodwin set the single-season record for shutouts on Thursday with his 13th of the year, David Adler writes.
- Andrew Carter of the News & Observer writes that UNC men’s basketball coach Roy Williams is rebuilding the roster after losing multiple players to the NBA draft — something that he also had to do following UNC’s 2008-09 championship season.
- Carter also writes that UNC freshman big man Joel James will have a big opportunity to contribute for the Tar Heels this season, likely as a member of the starting five.
- Last but not least, check out the DTH picks of this week’s biggest ACC and national football games.
