North Carolina’s men’s basketball team leads 42-26 against in-state opponent East Carolina at the half.
UNC’s defense prevented any of the Pirates from scoring in the double digits while clean play kept North Carolina at only four personal fouls as a team.
Sophomore James Michael McAdoo had the strongest presence on both ends of the court, leading North Carolina with 12 points and five rebounds. Junior Reggie Bullock is the only other Tar Heel in double digit scoring with 10 points, having made every shot he took in the half including two three-point shots.
UNC shot well in all areas during the half, marking a 75 percent three-point success rate, 70 percent free throw shooting and 55 percent total shooting percentage.
Senior Dexter Strickland added seven points, the same number as ECU’s leading scorer sophomore Paris Roberts-Campbell.
Despite its inability to be an offensive force, shooting at only 30 percent, the ECU team had a noteworthy dunk from freshman Marshall Guilmette to appeal to the Pirate fans in attendance.
