Redshirt junior Leslie McDonald, who has missed the last three games with a knee injury, has been suspended three games.

“Leslie did not do what we expect of our student-athletes and therefore is not going to play in the next three games,” Roy Williams said in a release. “His knee has improved and he would have been medically able to return this week, but he won’t dress for Georgia Tech, NC State and Boston College. I’m disappointed for him and our team because he worked so hard to get back from his knee injury and has been a valuable contributor for us this season. He’s a good kid and we look forward to his return.”

McDonald has been averaging 8.4 points this season and has put up 20 points on two occasions. The suspension comes following what McDonald calls not taking care of his responsibilities as a student-athlete.

The Tar Heels will host Georgia Tech tonight at 9 p.m. and will travel to N.C. State Saturday without McDonald.
