Here’s what the Tar Heels have been up to:

• Sports Editor Brandon Moree encourages people not to panic just yet about the North Carolina men’s basketball team’s season.

• Julian Benbow of the Boston Globe writes that the youth of the UNC men’s basketball team is not serving coach Roy Williams well.

• Remaining on the hardwood, Andrew Carter of the (Raleigh) News & Observer answers the question of why sophomore guard P.J. Hairston saw limited minutes against N.C. State on Saturday.

• Despite being tabbed No. 1 in a Baseball America preseason poll last week, the UNC baseball team was named the No. 2 team, behind Arkansas, in the 2013 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason Poll on Monday.

• Sticking to the topic of rankings, the UNC men’s lacrosse team was ranked No. 4 and No. 7 on Monday in the USILA coaches and Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media polls, respectively.

• The UNC women’s lacrosse team also grabbed two top-five rankings of its own on Monday in the Inside Lacrosse/deBeer Media and Lacrosse Magazine polls.
