Halftime Update: UNC women's lacrosse leads Florida 3-1

The North Carolina women’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Florida with back to back goals from junior Abbey Friend.

Friend scored her first goal with 27:33 remaining in the first half, and less than two minutes later, she ripped the ball to the back of the net with an assist from Emily Garrity.

With 22:35 remaining Taylor George gave UNC its 3-0 lead, forcing Florida’s head coach to call a timeout. Two minutes later, Florida’s Kitty Cullen put Florida on the board, raising the score to 3-1.

The remainder of the half saw several fouls from both teams as UNC committed 15 and Florida committed 10. Florida controlled most of the draws with four draw controls compared to UNC’s 1, but UNC’s commanding offense led them to take almost twice as many shots as the Gators.
