Here’s what the Tar Heels have been up to:

• Senior Writer Kelly Parsons writes that dominance at the plate led the North Carolina baseball team to a 7-1 victory against Coastal Carolina on Monday.

• The No. 1 UNC women’s tennis team fell to No. 2 Florida just a win after winning the program’s first national championship, Andrew Tie writes.

• Haley Rhyne writes that Monday’s match between the Tar Heels and the Gators was a hard-fought battle.

• Jane Stancill of the (Raleigh) News & Observer writes that Holden Thorp will leave athletic headaches behind by moving on to Washington University in St. Louis.

• The UNC men’s basketball team will stick with sophomore guard P.J. Hairston in the starting lineup heading into tonight’s matchup on the road against Georgia Tech, Andrew Carter of the (Raleigh) News & Observer writes.

• Adam Lucas of GoHeels.com writes that the UNC men’s basketball team’s smaller starting lineup will face a formidable rebounding challenge in its next two games against Georgia Tech and N.C. State.

• Sam Smiley — a reserve defensive back on the UNC football team — was sentenced to a year of probation after being arrested in July on a misdemeanor assault charge.
