- The UNC women’s basketball team also beat N.C. State this weekend in its Play 4Kay game, Assistant Sports Editor Henry Gargan writes. The Tar Heels won with strong inside play, adds Aaron Dodson.
- The Columbus Crew soccer team beat North Carolina in an exhibition match that honored the late UNC captain Kirk Urso, Sports Editor Brandon Moree writes.
- A walk-off hit by Mike Zolk in the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader gave UNC baseball the sweep of Stony Brook, Marilyn Payne writes. Baseball coach Mike Fox was able to learn more about his younger players in the series.
- The UNC women’s lacrosse team beat defending champion Northwestern on Friday, Grace Raynor writes. Aaron Dodson adds that UNC had strong play from both goalies.
- Max Miceli writes that a face-off edge helped boost the men’s lacrosse team to a win against Fairfield.
- The UNC softball team’s bats came through as the Tar Heels finished at the top of the Carolina Classic, Lindsay Masi writes. Wesley Lima adds that Lori Spingola pitched well against Penn State as she followed up a no-hitter.
- Emily Fedewa writes that the UNC men’s team swept Sunday’s doubleheader without dropping a point. International players contributed to UNC’s success, writes Ben Salkeld.
- The UNC gymnastics team joined both basketball teams in beating N.C. State this weekend, writes Daniel Wilco.
- The UNC men’s and women’s track teams finished fourth and sixth respectively in the ACC Championships, Madison Way writes.
