UNC leads Georgia Tech after sloppy first half

After sloppy play for both teams in the first half, North Carolina leads Georgia Tech 36-30 at halftime.

James Michael McAdoo leads all scorers with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Leslie McDonald has nine points for UNC while P.J. Hairston has eight.

Hairston kicked off the game with a 3-pointer in the opening possession of the game, but UNC wouldn’t score again for three and a half minutes. In that time, Georgia Tech built an 8-3 lead.

The Tar Heels eventually tied the game at 10 by the first media timeout. The game went back and forth for the majority of the first half until UNC used a 10-4 run midway through the half to get a slim lead on Georgia Tech.

UNC’s six-point halftime lead is its largest in the game so far. Georgia Tech led by as many five.

The Yellow Jackets hold a 17-14 rebounding advantage.
