After falling behind by as much as 28 points the last time North Carolina played N.C. State, the Tar Heels have avoided the slow start Saturday.
UNC has matched the Wolfpack blow by blow in the first 20 minutes and holds a 34-28 lead at halftime.
The Tar Heels have been led by junior Reggie Bullock and sophomore James Michael McAdoo, who have scored 10 points apiece, while N.C. State’s Richard Howell nears a double-double with seven points and 13 rebounds for the Wolfpack.
Howell has just one fewer rebound than the entire UNC team, as the Wolfpack holds a 26-14 rebounding edge. But the Wolfpack has been hindered by turnovers, committing 12 compared to four for the Tar Heels.
UNC has score almost half its points (16) off turnovers.
