Isaiah Hicks is a senior at Oxford’s J.F. Webb high school and has signed to play for Roy Williams’ squad next year.
Hicks’s Webb team put its undefeated conference record on the line Friday night at Chapel Hill high school. Hick’s Warriors fell to the Tigers 55-52 but Hicks was impressive in the loss.
The six-foot-eight forward finished the night with a game-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds, three key assists and six blocks.
Hicks showed off some range as well as he dropped in a pair of 3-point shots and a long-range two as the Warriors were attempting to come back from an early deficit.
“He’s a beast,” Chapel Hill coach Tod Morgan said after the game. “I’m a Carolina graduate and alumni and I look forward to seeing him in that Tar Heel uniform next year but it’s not a lot of fun seeing him in that Webb uniform right now because he’s such a good player inside-out.”
