North Carolina is trailing No. 3 Duke 42-24 at halftime in its regular-season finale at the Smith Center.
James Michael McAdoo leads the Tar Heels with nine points, and Seth Curry is pacing the Blue Devils with 18 points.
Any momentum UNC had built up during its six-game winning streak disappeared immediately. Duke jumped out to a 14-0 lead and led by 20 at one point, 30-18.
Curry just couldn’t miss. He finished the half eight-of-10 from the field and two-for-three from behind the arc. He even made a shot falling down, almost sitting on the Smith Center floor.
The interesting matchup between 6-foot-11 Ryan Kelly and 6-foot-5 P.J. Hairston didn’t even factor much into the score. Hairston didn’t make a field goal in the half, but he made all five of his free throws and had some success against Kelly on defense. And Kelly picked up three fouls in the half.
