At halftime of the North Carolina women’s lacrosse team’s second round matchup against Loyola, the Tar Heels lead 7-5.
Though the Tar Heels have the advantage in draws, winning 8-5, UNC has only been able to muster a two-point lead.
Abbey Friend led the way in scoring and assists with two of each, but the Greyhounds have responded to the Tar Heel attack by scoring goals in bunches.
UNC will need continued success in the clearing the ball. So far, the Tar Heels have successfully cleared the ball in all eight of their attempts, and the team has prevented 4 of Loyola’s 11 clears.
In cage, UNC’s Megan Ward has played well early on, getting six saves to start the day.
