DURHAM — On Friday, it took 21 shots before the No. 1 North Carolina women’s soccer team could get on the board against No. 2 UCLA in a 1-0 win. Today, UNC scored twice in its first three shots, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead against No. 19 West Virginia in the Tar Heels’ second game of the Duke Nike Classic.
Kealia Ohai got UNC on the board early with a goal to the right corner in the ninth minute from 12 yards out.
In the 17th minute, fellow senior forward Crystal Dunn — who scored the game-winning goal Friday — notched her sixth goal of the season.
Then, in the 44th minute, freshman Joanna Boyles expanded the lead to three with a high, curving free kick from 22 yards out after a West Virginia yellow card.
