At the break, the North Carolina volleyball team leads James Madison University 2-0.
The Tar Heels took the opening sets 25-21 and 25-22 respectively. Senior outside/ opposite hitter Kayla Berringer, has led the team offensively with nine kills.
In the first set, the Tar Heels never led by more than three points until an out of bounds ball by the Dukes gave UNC the 24-21 advantage. Junior libero and defensive specialist Ece Taner closed the set with a service ace.
In the second set, the back and forth nature of the game continued, as the Tar Heels took a 10-6 lead, only to relinquish it minutes later. Several JMU kills and UNC errors put the Dukes ahead 16-15. Redshirt freshman Taylor Treacy came up with four crucial kills for the Tar Heels, as they headed into the locker room with a two-game lead.
The Tar Heels are one set away from claiming the match.
