At the break between the second and third sets of the North Carolina volleyball team’s matchup with Albany, the Tar Heels lead 2-0.
Tonight’s competition is the final installment of the Carolina Classic, a two-day tournament featuring George Washington, James Madison, Albany and North Carolina.
North Carolina defeated George Washington 3-0 Friday night and James Madison 3-0 earlier today.
To date, the Great Danes of Albany have yet to win a set, losing the eight matches they have played 0-3.
The Tar Heels glided through the first set with a 25-13 victory in part due to the offensive efforts of Paige Neuenfeldt and Jovana Bjelica. Both the sophomore and the graduate student had four kills each.
In the second set, the Tar Heels continued to control the pace of the game and took the set 25-10, with several younger players seeing significant playing time. Neuenfeldt and Bjelica each added on four more kills and now have eight on the night.
The Tar Heels are one game away from taking the match and sweeping the Carolina Classic.
