The North Carolina women’s soccer team leads Clemson 1-0 at halftime after scoring an early goal and dominating possession throughout the first 45 minutes of play.
Just 19 seconds after entering the game, Amber Munerlyn combined with Summer Green in the 7th minute to put the ball in the net from close range. Munerlyn received a pass from Dunn just outside the box and found Green at the six-yard mark. Green collected the pass and sent the ball just right of the goalkeeper and into the corner of the goal, marking her sixth goal of the season.
The Tar Heels managed to keep the ball on their offensive end for most of the half and registered seven shots while the Tigers recorded just one.
Despite their dominance in possession and in the shots column, North Carolina struggled to find any more significant scoring opportunities once they penetrated the final third of the field.
Their next best chance came in the final minute of the half when Emily Bruder dribbled to the top left corner of the box and fired a shot just wide of the left goalpost.
