After falling behind early in the first minute of the game, the UNC women’s soccer team heads into halftime tied with Maryland 1-1.
The Terrapins got on the board 17 seconds into the game when freshman Lauren Berman scored off an assist from senior Haley Brock. North Carolina would tie the game in the 21st minute on a penalty kick from sophomore forward Summer Green after Maryland was called for a handball inside the box.
UNC took 10 shots in the first half, five of which were on goal. The Tar Heel defense held Maryland to only one shot after the first minute goal, but that shot never threatened to score, sailing wide right of the goal.
