Two days after holding off Holy Cross 62-54, the North Carolina men’s basketball team trails Belmont 41-34 at the half.
Both teams are shooting 48 percent from the field, but the Bruins have seven 3-pointers to UNC’s one. The largest disparity has come at the free-throw line, where UNC is 9-for-28 (32 percent) and Belmont is 8-for-9. J.P. Tokoto alone is 2-for-12 from the charity stripe.
There have been nine lead changes as UNC and Belmont volleyed back and forth throughout the half, the Bruins relying on 3-pointers and the Tar Heels scoring 16 points in the paint.
Belmont’s Drew Windler has 11 points on 3-for-5 3-point shooting while James Michael McAdoo leads all scorers with 12 points.
