UNC basketball leads Kentucky 33-30 at halftime

With 11 points each from James Michael McAdoo and J.P. Tokoto, the North Carolina basketball team leads Kentucky 33-30 at halftime.

Thanks to a foul on forward Willie Cauley-Stein and a technical foul on the Kentucky bench, UNC earned four consecutive free throws at the end of the second half and made three of them to take the lead.

It’s been a physical half of basketball with Kentucky and UNC earning 14 and 11 fouls, respectively. Kentucky shot 40 percent, and UNC shot 38.5 percent, with each team scoring one 3-pointer a piece.

With UNC’s leading scorer Marcus Paige held without a field goal in the first half, Tokoto and McAdoo spearheaded a frontcourt effort that supplied all but four of UNC’s points.

Guards James Young and Andrew Harrison led Kentucky’s scoring efforts with seven and six points, respectively, while Cauley-Stein used his size to his advantage for three blocks on the defensive end.
