The North Carolina men’s basketball team opened up its bout with Miami with a eight-point run, but that lead quickly slipped away as the Hurricanes ended the first half leading UNC 29-23.
Eleven of Miami’s 29 points came from senior guard Rion Brown, who also added six of the team’s 23 rebounds.
None of UNC’s players have reached double digits in any category, but the big men were most successful in the first half.
Freshman forward Kennedy Meeks leads the team with five points. Behind him are junior forward James Michael McAdoo and sophomore forward Joel James, who both scored four points in the first half.
James was explosive in the first 18 minutes of the game, leading in both points and rebounds before a made free throw put Meeks in the top spot. James is returning from an MCL injury suffered during UNC’s game against Texas December 18th.
