ATLANTA — The North Carolina men’s basketball team left Chapel Hill Tuesday as snow began to fall before being greeted by even more snow and icy conditions after arriving in Atlanta to face Georgia Tech.
Per ACC rules, the game was not cancelled or postponed given both teams and referees were on hand.
At the end of the first half at McCamish Pavilion, UNC leads the Yellow Jackets 26-25.
Despite taking 17 more shots than Georgia Tech, the Tar Heels are shooting just 12-for-39 (30.8%) from the field.
Marcus Paige, UNC’s leading scorer, has especially struggled to find the ball’s way into the basket. The sophomore point guard shot just 1-for-7 from the field and 0-for-2 from beyond the arc, and has just two points.
Coming off of 22-point game against Clemson Sunday, junior forward James Michael McAdoo leads the way for the Tar Heels with eight points and five rebounds.
Senior guard Leslie McDonald contributed five points, four rebounds and three assists while sophomore forward Brice Johnson added six points.
The Yellow Jackets ended the first half on a 10-2 run to cut UNC’s lead to 26-25. The run was finished off by two out of three throws from point guard Trae Golden, who was fouled while attempting a desperation half-court heave.
