Welcome to another edition of Tracking the Tar Heels.
Let’s see what the Tar Heels have been up to:
- The North Carolina men’s basketball team continued to struggle last night against a young Miami team and their zone defense, Senior Writer Brooke Pryor writes. The team moved to 0-2 in conference play and leading scorer Marcus Paige managed just 8 points.
- Madison Way writes that the Tar Heels’ big men weren’t big enough during the game. Sophomore forward Joel James was ejected from the game in the second minute of the second half.
- ESPN’s C.L. Brown says that the basketball team no longer gets the benefit of the doubt, and that last night “there weren’t any moments to suggests the Heels are a potential title team.”
- Jane Stancill of the (Raleigh) News & Observer writes that many UNC-Chapel Hill student-athletes were reading on elementary and middle school levels from 2004-2012.
- Stancill also wrote about the academic performance of athletes in the UNC System as a whole.
- The North Carolina women’s lacrosse team are defending NCAA champions this season and will begin the year at the top of Lacrosse Magazine rankings according to the (Raleigh) News & Observer.
- GoHeels.com writer Turner Walston says the UNC football team has some rebuilding to do on the offensive line, with left tackle James Hurst and center Russell Bodine both entering the 2014 NFL draft.
