SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Thanks to 9-0 first-half-ending run, the North Carolina men’s basketball team leads Notre Dame 27-23 at halftime.
Sophomore guard Marcus Paige scored five of those points, and junior James Michael McAdoo added four more to secure a UNC lead.
UNC got off to a slow start shooting-wise. After sophomore J.P. Tokoto scored on the opening possession, the Tar Heels went five minutes before scoring again — via a Tokoto dunk.
Overall, the Tar Heels shot 11-for-32 from the field and 1-for-6 from three. Notre Dame was 9-for-23, 4-for-9.
UNC was aided by a 9-2 offensive rebound advantage and nine Notre Dame turnovers. McAdoo has three of those offensive boards, five overall.
Tokoto and Paige lead all scorers with nine points apiece.
