Both the North Carolina men's and women's tennis teams open the regular season ranked in the top 10 of the ITA National team rankings.
Released on Tuesday, the rankings peg the men tied for sixth with Baylor University and the women at the fourth spot. In total, the ACC has six teams ranked in the men's top 25 and seven in the women's top 25.
Last spring, both the men's and women's team had seasons to remember. The men doubled their win total from the previous year, going 22-4 (9-2 ACC) in the regular season. The team made it to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 1992, eventually falling to No.2 Oklahoma.
The women turned in an impressive record of 23-4 (12-2 ACC) in the regular season and advanced all the way to the National Championship match, where they were narrowly defeated by UCLA 4-3.
The women will begin their dual-match season on Friday, where they will face Elon and Appalachian State. The men start on Jan. 16, and will play East Carolina and Longwood.
