Xylina McDaniel, a senior forward on the North Carolina women's basketball team, will miss the rest of the 2015-16 season after tearing the ACL and meniscus in her right knee, the team announced Sunday.
McDaniel injured the knee in the first half of the Tar Heels' 80-73 loss against Georgia Tech on Thursday. She was averaging 8.7 points and 6.8 rebounds on the season.
This will be the second time in as many seasons that McDaniel has suffered a season-ending injury. During a game against Elon a year ago, the forward tore her Achilles tendon, forcing her to miss the final 24 games of the season.
