Marcus Paige, a senior guard on the North Carolina men's basketball team, was named a First-Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the team announced Thursday.
Paige — who is double-majoring in both journalism and history — received second-team honors each of the last two seasons. He is also a two-time winner of the Skip Prosser Award as the ACC's top scholar-athlete for men's basketball.
“I know my parents are going to be super proud," Paige said. That will probably be their most satisfying accomplishment that I’ve had since I’ve been in school because they understand how important it is. I’m glad I could it for myself and especially do it for them.”
